1998 was a major transition year for the Ariss Old Macks. We lost our sponsorship in 1997 but kept wearing the same jerseys for the remainder of 1997 and into 1998. Then, we brought in players from another team who were looking for tournaments to play in. They had in the past only been on our taxi squad but it was in 1998 that players from the Muff Hawks joined our team. At the same time, during one of our infamous summer BBQ's at Doug's place, we voted on and decided on a new name, something reflective of where we live, something some of us 'oldtimers' could relate too, and we also voted on a uniform, something standard that is easily recognizable and something we can buy spare parts for.
Thus, we became the The Pickering Teepees.
So there you have it, a really useless piece of trivia that can be used to cause brain cramps when you try to remember anything about the name of our team.
Meanwhile, the 1998 tournament season was quite good. We were in five and won three of them.
