Year 2002 Tournaments

AJAX, Ontario -- April 12, 2003 --

Thanks again to our call-up for this tournament: Bob Kemp, Frank Pollard, Ron Sherwin, Bruce Voicey and Paul McNabney and Keith Tilley in goal. Our first game was against the Little Britain Pioneers who beat us 4 - 0, and they had a very short bench. But they did it to us in Niagara Falls the month before so it proves that history repeats itself.

Game two was really a good game if you ignored the lack of offence. It was the first time we played the Ajax Leftovers who are about the same caliber we are. The game was fairly exciting and was a 0 - 0 tie until about 11 seconds to go. There was a mad scramble around our net and the popped in the goal to win it 1 - 0.

The third game was a bit of a joke. The very wrongly seeded Coxwell team scored 3 goals on us within minutes it seemed and then just toyed with use for the remainder of the game. The score ended up 4 -1 I think but it wasn't a fun game at all.

NIAGARA FALLS -- March 27, 2003 --Well we couldn't repeat our quest for another championship this time out. Although we were seeded very good (again) this time in the appropriate Geritol 45+ Division, we were short some skaters and our offence couldn't match our competitors. Our defence did a superb job for us keeping us in all the games.

We had 5 call-ups in Steve Moroney, Frank Pollard, John Dellatore and his friend Randy up on the forward line and our defence was bolstered by Ted Lintner while in goal was Keith Tilley. The regulars this time around were Roger Allaby, Doug Anderson, Steve Clark, Bob Crane, Jack Currie, Mark Mulholland and John Savage. And putting up with all the nonsense was bench coach Tom Blanchard.

PICKERING -- February 12, 2002 -- Our first venture into the over 50 division was in the Art Thompson tournament in Pickering. This is officially known as the Bill McCullough Memorial Tournament and is a well run, local tournament although there are some concerns over the seeding of teams. We had some limited success in individual games but we did not move on to the finals on Sunday. Thanks to our call-ups who were Randy Paterson, Peter Letourneau, Steve Moroney, Gary Jarvis, Bob Kemp, Keith Tilley, and Frank Pollard.
